Meet the “K” Family • Eden Prairie Family Photographer

Here they are! Aren’t they cute?  I was happy to see them when I got to the session because I knew we would have a great time and get some super cute photos! I had a hard time choosing for this collage because I love them all!

Family photos with kids that are young can be tough. Mom and Dad want them to look at the camera and sit still. But that is not really what the kiddos want to do …. and it is almost always a disaster when they are forced. This session is a great example of just going with the flow. I just followed them around and got the shots as they interacted. Some more posed than others. The oldest was very excited about being at the park, not so much being in front of the camera. I once learned a little trick at a conference with Sam Puc. Tell the child a “secret”. The secret is “when I could to three, you yell “Daddy wears diapers!” Most of the time the kids think it is super funny and laugh and you can get some super cute photos. However, I’m not sure “M” understood what I was saying. He went to his Mom and Dad wanting to know where his little brother’s diapers were. He kind of got upset because Mom and Dad didn’t understand what he wanted the diapers for. So, let’s just say that sometimes all those little tricks we photogs learn to get kids to laugh and be “on our side” don’t always work. :)  I’m not so sure I will be using that one again….Oh well. Even if my little “secret” backfired we still ended up getting some great shots.

I love that I continue to meet great families in my job. I truly hope that I will have the honor of photographing these boys and this wonderful family again as they grow together.
