The BIG Announcement!!

Some of you may have already checked here many times looking for this. But, I bet you are happy that you are here and reading this now, right?!

So…. my announcement is about CHANGE.

When I started this business I was so excited to learn and grow.  I knew hardly anything when I started, all I knew is that I wanted to be creative and enjoy my job.  In the last four years I have very much enjoyed and learned more than I could have ever imagined.  Two cameras, three computers, two versions  of Photoshop, hundreds of actions, two workshops, two trips to Vegas for the WPPI conference, and lots of new friends.  Here I am, four years later, a completely transformed photographer.  Many people have been there from the beginning and I would not have been able to do it without them.  I hope they will continue to accompany me on this crazy journey.

I put my heart and soul into this job and every single photograph I take.  In the past four years each thing I have learned has been passed on to client after client.  Therefore now it is time to apply all of these lessons to each detail of my business, and most importantly that would include the name of my business.

At Last Images became the name of my business because, AT LAST, I had discovered my passion.  Four years later, this name only reminds me of the growing pains I endured while building my business.  I feel that this name is no longer a proper representation of the photographer I have become.  This may sound negative but I assure you this change is nothing but positive.  As I write this with tears in my eyes (happy tears), I feel proud of all that I have accomplished under the At Last Images name and I am sad to see it go.  BUT… I believe that my new name should more accurately express my style, growth and uniqueness.

Enough with the sappy goodbye…

…I would like to introduce….

I will explain how I came up with the name … it’s kinda fun!

I didn’t want to include my actual name. Some of you may know that I am hoping that my name will change in the near future! There are probably some of you that thought that is what I was going to announce! I also wanted to use my nickname “Mimi”. However, there is already a Mimi Photography - IN EUROPE!! Guess it’s a small world. So on went the brainstorming. I wanted it to be cute, something that might remind me of a clothing brand at Anthropologie. I went searching for meanings of flowers. I found this…..

The symbolic meaning of periwinkle flowers is - early friendship or the pleasures of memory.

How perfect is that??  To me the word “Periwinkle” (which is such a fun word in and of itself) represents the many friendships I am able to make with my clients. The part about “the pleasure of memory” well…..that speaks for itself right??  I mean my entire job consists of capturing memories that will last a lifetime for people to enjoy! So, I just added a little bit of myself (Mimi) and thus “Periwinkle & Mimi Photography” was born!

The logo that you see above is not the final logo - nor is it really a logo. However, it was something cute to share for now! In the month of February I will be working with the UBER TALENTED Luxcetera To recreate my branding and marketing materials. I will also be unveiling a new website and blog in February. Complete with slideshows on the blog!

So there you have it. That is the BIG announcement. For now the website will remain www.atlastimages.com  and the blog will still be here. I will let you know when everything is up and running. This week I will also be announcing 2010 pricing and all the new products that P&M will be offering!
